In this weird era of massively-produced, colossally-consumed, disastrously-disposed-of goods where the lowest online price and free ground shipping seem to play the biggest roles in a shopper’s decision making process, it’s encouraging to witness the progression of consumer awareness with people embracing, more and more, the little guys, the craftsmen, still hemming and hammering away in their little workshops, pouring their blood and guts into their handmade goods.

Not that this should be news to anybody or anything but we at Deus Venice happen to think the handmade thing is all one gigantic thumbs up, so in honor of our dirty finger-nailed friends we hosted the first annual Handmade Festival. We invited jewelers, cobblers, hat makers, print makers, guitar makers, surf shapers, all sorts of folks, all in the name of doing things by hand.
