Fest O Thump No.2

Well its official, The House of Simple Pleasures events are back and thumping! Saturday the 27th of April was The Festival of Thump No.2. Every man and his single cylinder rocked up to the Camperdown Headquarters to hang out and ogle at his fellow thumpers machine. The Car park was cleared once again to make way for the likes of Tommy J on behalf of Uppercut to trim some hair, the Sydney Cafe Racers were recruiting new members and of course our own 2nd hand parts den was open to anyone in desperate need of a new lever or tyre. Over the course of the day more than 200 bikes lapped up and down Barr St including the weird and … View More

Taking Shape

Woolie’s hands have been full in recent months with special, one-off, bespoke motorcycle builds for a handful of loyal Deus customers. But inside the cauldron of Woolie’s Workshop, another force has been stewing and picking up energy: The KTM Project. The goal of this initiative is to offer two, repeatable, custom Deus motorcycles based off two different KTMs that can be assembled in any Deus shop around the globe. Eating dirt for breakfast, the 500 EXC will be an adventure inspired dual sport with optional surf rack, while the 690 Duke will push the boundries of street performance. The project is shaping up. The smell is wafting thru the Emporium and making our mouths water like mamma’s chocolate chip cookies. … View More

Back to the Future

Sometimes our bike manufacturing process is a little one sided. The customer, if there is one at all, undecided in the direction the project should take. We dictate lines and finishes. Rarely do they get involved as they feel content to utilise our expertise. After all that’s what they are paying for. So when we had a customer approach us and ask if he could get up to his elbows in the whole build, we’re more than happy to oblige. We’re extatic infact. He had this idea for a fusion between old and new, which is everything we are about, so there wasn’t an arguement there. The idea was that we’d start out with a fresh new out of the … View More

Sound and Vision Redux

The sun shined brightly, the grinding bite of winter was no longer aloft, and the parking lot at The Emporium of Postmodern Activities blossomed with vintage film, hi-fi, and vinyl. Through the eyes of a casual observer it appeared as if another Saturday flea market was taking place, but for the informed who had gathered, there was reason to celebrate, for the season of Sound and Vision had arrived. Despite the ravages of the long, hard, Southern California winter, this year’s harvest proved to be just as crisp, rich, fresh, and delicious as the last, as the stalls overflowed with an abundance of formerly high tech offerings. While the people perused, entertainment came courtesy of Deus Ex Machina’s own with … View More

This little highlight reel is our way of saying thanks for rolling with us. It’s been an unbelievably incredible adventure so far. Hope you’ll join us for more.

The Emperors New Clothes – Deus BioRock

Those avid and loyal readers of the Deus Bali Blog might remember the Deus BioRock we sunk 18 months ago over at Gili Trawangan. It was a little side project we did with The Marine Foundation, Check that post out here http://id.deuscustoms.com/fathom-five-fun-part-two-of-the-deus-bio-rock/. We did another visit last July to look at damage a storm had wrought across our metal frame. Read Sunken Solace here http://id.deuscustoms.com/sunken-solace/. Well after a couple of fumbles we finally got back over to Gili T last weekend and to the bike. We came bearing gifts and bits, enough to right the wrongs. Our posse was three, Celia from The Marine Foundation, Greg; a mate of mine whose birthday it was so was treating himself to an … View More

Long in the tooth…A drawn out affair

Hope you’re all revved up for the latest play on metal to pop out of the Bali Bengkel. It leaves itself open to more puns than you can throw a fork at. You’d have to agree it’s a whole lot of pun. This little C 70 is another example of our mad professors dreams. What would happen if you rebuilt the whole front end with the left over forks from a Yamaha SSX. Well now we all know… it’s a bit of a shock. The frame took a whole lot of work to get it to hold onto the forks nice and tight, Bagio had his work cut out for him. Angling to keep the heights all good and proper, … View More
